Introduction
This proposal seeks to add Taiko incentives on Curve for community activation and building. Curve has deployed Curve light on Taiko, the first based rollup on Ethereum. The goal is to gather feedback on the potential deployment incentives, a move that could enable users of Curve and Taiko to gain access to fast and cheap transitions without compromising on security or decentralisation. Ultimately, this proposal aims to activate Curve’s and Taiko’s community to participate and attract new users from the wider Ethereum ecosystem.

Motivation
Deploying on Taiko mainnet offers significant benefits for Taiko in terms of burgeoning ecosystem, user acquisition and overall user experience. Incentive programs are a win-win for everyone. They can be deployed easily and impact the growth of TVL of Curve on Taiko in a positive manner. The Curve community will be informed about the community activation opportunity as well. More importantly, the program is transparent, decentralized, and gives power to the community of the projects involved: Curve & Taiko

Key Motivating Factors:
First Based Rollup: Taiko is the first based rollup on Ethereum, which means that settlement, data availability, consensus layers all use Ethereum apart from the execution layer since based rollup executes transactions off-chain on its own. As a based rollup, Taiko is the one that is most economically aligned with Ethereum as most based rollup MEV flows to L1 validators. L1 searchers and block builders are incentivized to extract rollup MEV by including rollup blocks within their L1 bundles and L1 blocks. This then incentivizes L1 proposers to include rollup blocks on the L1. In addition to that, Taiko has proven the fact that decentralised sequencers exist and they do work, as the based sequencing inherits the decentralisation of the L1 and naturally reuses L1 searcher-builder-proposer infrastructure.

Continuous Innovation: Innovation is in the DNA of Taiko and its founding team who were the founding members of Loopring. A few months ago Raiko was introduced, which is a new Taiko and Ethereum block prover. It is an integrated environment that builds, runs and benchmarks zkVM targets. Raiko currently supports Sp1, Risc0 and SGX. In addition, the team has announced and has been working on Gwyneth, which is a booster rollup that’s synchronously composable with Ethereum, designed to improve scalability and user experience.

Proven Success: Taiko’s integrations with prominent projects like Oku/Uniswap, Izumi, Syncswap, and Stargate demonstrate its viability as a platform for DeFi expansion.

By deploying on Taiko, Curve Protocol can not only attract a new audience, but also position itself as a leading player in the evolving based rollup landscape.

Incentives
Recognizing the monumental opportunity to unlock and capture an emerging market in the based rollup DeFi ecosystem, this proposal outlines incentive strategies designed to attract and retain users on Taiko.

$500’000 in $TAIKO for community building and activation for 16 weeks (circa 4 months) with the following unlock schedule:

Upon deployment, provision of $50’000 in incentives

  • at $8M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $15M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $22M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $30M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $35M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $42M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $50M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $55M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives
  • at $60M in TVL unlocking additional $50,000 in incentives

Co-marketing: Co-Market the campaign on Taiko

  • Connect Curve to the large ecosystem of Taiko-based builders who are eager to work with Curve and bring additional products
  • Collaborate with Curve on marketing side to drive attention to the campaign and users to the protocol
